Anji
Brar
In the past I have worked as a PA for British Telecom for seventeen years,
for British Airways and for Prudential. My passion is travelling and eventually I would like to merge my travelling and radio presenter skills and open a radio station out in Goa for when I retire.
I am a mother of two sons: the oldest works in central London for a bank in the IT department after completing his degree in Computer Science. The youngest has just completed his Media degree from Cambridge. His graduation was on the 11th of November 2009 – which was really exciting and a chance to celebrate his success and an end to his studies.
At 51 my life seems to be getting more interesting and flowing along well. At present I am studying for a NVQ through Desi Radio and learning radio presenter skills and find it so interesting and informative. We recently did a broadcast on Halloween and I really enjoyed the buzz of putting it all together in a very short time scale.

Having worked in the voluntary sector for many years and completed

Yula
Burin
My name is Yula Burin and I am a graduate of the
PEARLS 7 course. I have worked as an administrator for over 20 years
and now I want to work in a more creative medium. I believe that
working in radio will offer me real scope for expressing my
creativity. I am really excited about harnessing the power of radio
to disseminate ideas that may contribute to positive changes in
people’s lives, especially women. My particular interests include
feminism, psychology, literature, music and the arts generally.
Soundscape: One & Other, Trafalgar Square
During the summer of 2009 I was an avid supporter of, and ultimately
a participant
in, Anthony Gormley's One
& Other project in Trafalgar Square in London (Change
43). This short
soundscape is of a plinther (Koolsie)
throwing balls with her telephone number on them into Trafalgar
Square so that people could ring her to ask questions, make comments
or have a conversation.
